Self-Portrait
This picture is about me, Raymond. This picture was taken in the cafeteria of Luke C. Moore during first period. This picture makes me look very tall and big. It makes me feel strong and powerful, like I’m a leader. This is a second chance school and I feel as though this school is here because it gives students another chance to succeed in their lives and it makes me feel like I’m in control of my education. My past years didn’t work out for me, I was getting in a lot of trouble, being young and dumb. It led me to Luke C. Moore where I was given another chance to graduate and move on with my life. After Luke C. Moore I want to go out and get a job so I can take care of my son. I want him to be better than me, I want him to make better decisions than me, and I’m going to do everything in my power to not let him follow in my footsteps. I’m going to try to go to college, but I really want my son to go to college. There are no other schools in D.C. like this, this is the only school that gives kids second chances, and a lot of kids don’t get that. They go out and do dumb stuff and it messes up their lives. This is a good school and it really helps kids get their educations and move on so that they don’t have to go out and do something dumb. I think there should be more than one school in the district like this, so that more kids in the district can have a second chance so that they don’t have to be on the wait list to be here. Everybody deserves a second chance and there should be more opportunities for people like me who need that.
